Court records researched at the county level provide the most accurate information when it comes to criminal records. You may see some ads across the internet offering "Nationwide Backgrounds" for around $12.95. This may seem like a great deal, and hearing the word "nationwide" may seem to offer peace of mind, thinking that the background will cover every city, county & state in the US with 100% accuracy. When in reality, the only truly accurate nationwide background is from the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), held within the walls of the FBI headquarters available to law enforcement only.

FACT: Nationwide backgrounds can be outdated, inaccurate and provide limited case information.

So are nationwide background checks accurate? Some are and some aren't. It varies because big background companies pull from archived court data on a CD or database. Remember, archived means old. This information can be useful, but we have found most of our clients want more case details only found in the original file at the local level.

Once we locate the case file number in the court system, we can obtain the hard file on record with that specific court. Turnaround time is usually 1-3 business days.
